Gun Lake Casino 2022 Scholarship OverviewScholarship Amount: One 2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student at each of theeight (8) Allegan County public high schools.Distribution: Scholarship information will be distributed to each schoolGuidance Office by January 21, 2022.o Each school will receive a PDF via email to distribute tostudents.Submission/Review: The Scholarship Committee will consist of two (2) Team Membersfrom Gun Lake Casino and two (2) Members of the Gun LakeTribe. Scholarships must be submitted to the GLC ScholarshipCommittee by April 8, 2022 at 5p.m. The Community Relations Coordinator will fill out the preliminaryrubric as applications come in, to determine eligibility and willthen distribute eligible applications to the Scholarship Committeeno later than April 15, 2022.o Ask committee if they would like them to be submittedweekly? The Scholarship Committee will meet by April 22, 2022 to reviewall accepted and scored applications. The Scholarship Committee will review each applicationaccording to the provided Scholarship Rubric.

Gun Lake Casino Scholarship GuidelinesPurposeGun Lake Casino strives to be an active partner in the community through itsScholarship Program. This scholarship’s purpose is to provide financial support toAllegan County students that are pursuing higher education.Eligibility: To be eligible for the Gun Lake Casino Scholarship, a student must: Be a current student in one of the following:o Allegan High School, Otsego High School, Wayland High School,Fennville Public High School, Hopkins High School, Martin HighSchool, Plainwell High School, or Saugatuck High School. Be enrolled at an accredited Michigan college, university, institute, or tradeschool and submit either a class schedule or an acceptance letter. Submit the Gun Lake Casino Scholarship Application by April 8, 2022 at5p.m. to be considered for the following academic year. Possess a cumulative 2.5 GPA or higher. Provide an official high school transcript as proof of GPA. Include at least two current letters of recommendation from a non-relativeaware of the student’s scholastic, career, and/or leadership abilities. Must show community involvement Submit a personal essay with the following criteria:o Essay must be a minimum of 400 words and not exceed 1,000 words.Please include word count at the end of your essay.o Essay must reflect on two or more of the following topics: If you could help your community in any way, in what areawould it be and why? How will the Gun Lake CasinoScholarship help you do this through furthering youreducation? Discuss how the Gun Lake Casino and/or the Gun Lake Tribehas impacted your community. Describe an impactful moment that you’ve experienced whilebeing involved in the community. Has this affected the pathyou will take when pursuing higher education? Why do you believe it is important to give back to those in yourcommunity? How will the Gun Lake Casino scholarship andhigher education allow you to give back? May touch on other relevant information, but should clearlyfocus on the above topics.

Award ProcessThe Gun Lake Casino Scholarship committee will consist of members of both GunLake Casino management and the Gun Lake Tribe. The Gun Lake Casino Scholarshipwill be awarded to one student from each of the high schools in Allegan County asdescribed above.
