I am writing to request an email from you providing CONHI's support for a new course I've submittedthrough Curriculum Changemaker, SWG 572/ Interprofessional Approaches to Healthy Aging. This course will serve as a corecourse for the graduate Interprofessional Healthy Aging Certificate, a certificate to be offered through the ASU College of Nursing& Health Innovations (CONHI). The certificate currently exists as the Graduate Certificate in Geriatric Nursing . As you know, Dr.Nelma Shearer of COHNI has requested that the certificate be renamed "Interprofessional Healthy Aging Certificate" andsubmitted a proposal to revise the curriculum accordingly. I have co-developed the course with Dr. Adriana Perez of CONHI andDr. Pam Bosch of NAU's PT Program.I have included the original emalls from Curriculum Questions related to t his request. I was advised to request support for thiscourse through COHNI.
Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions about this request. I have already received emailsof support from the Sanford School of Social and Family Dynamics and the School of Nutrition and Health Promotion.Thank you in advance for your consideration of this request. Most sincerely,TeriTeriKennedy,PhD,rv15W, LCSW,ACSWProject Director/Principal Investigator, Undergraduate Child Welfare Education Program,Director, Office of Gerontological & lnterprofessionallnitiatives &Core Faculty, Arizona Geriatric Education Center (The University of Arizona)Arizona State University/College of Public ProgramsSchool of Social Work (Phoenix & Tucson)terikennedy@asu .edu image003.jpg To contribute, go to: www.asufoundation.org/gerontQ]QgyVideo: https://copp-com p-program-serves-students-bullds·legaclesFrom: Curriculum QuestionsSent: Friday, September 19, 2014 1:42AMTo: Teri KennedyCc: Curriculum Questions; Laura Orr; Dana Newell; Nelma ShearerSubject: FW: SWG 572 Interprofessional Approaches to Healthy Aging 3- 2157: Fall 2015I CL:NoneA search was made of courses with "aging" in the title and several appeared, primarily in these three units. The intent of obtaining the statements of support is so that there are no unpleasant surprises, either at the Senate meeting orafter the new course is approved, from a college with similar interests. It certainly helps knowing this course was developed in collaboration with Nursing and Health Innovation. An email (PDF copy ofit) with the information on who is approving the course for their college (usually the dean or chair) is sufficient. Make sure theemail request is specific with the course information so there is no confusion what is being approved as well.Because of this collaborative effort, should SWG 572 be crosslisted as NUR 5xx?From: Teri Kennedy [mailto:[email protected]]Sent: Friday, September 19, 2014 12:34 AMTo: [email protected]: Laura Orr; Dana Newell; Nelma ShearerSubject: FW: SWG 572 Interprofessional Approaches to Healthy Aging 3- 2157: Fall 2015I CL:NoneHello Curriculum Representative:I am the lead instructor for SWG 572/Interprofessional Approaches to Healthy Aging and had a few questions regardingyour request. This course was developed in collaboration with Dr. Shearer and faculty with the College of Nursing &Health Innovation as part of a graduate certificate offered through CONHI. Given this background, would it be sufficient to obtain a statement from Nursing or would you still need statements ofsupport from Nursing, Nutrition and Health Promotion, and Sociology? Is an email indicating support for the course sufficient or do you need a statement on letterhead? Can Dr. Shearer submit the statement from Nursing or is it necessary to have a statement from their Dean? Is there aspecific individual in Nutrition and Health Promotion and in Sociology who would need to provide the statement? Finally, by what date do you need the statements? I see reference to the 26"' in your message, but was unsure of themonth. Thank you in advance for your invaluable assistance with these questions.
