Plug the other end of the Power Adapter into a poweroutlet.Installing the RouterTo connect the AmpliFi Router, follow these steps:1. Power off your broadband modem.2. Connect one end of the Ethernet Cable to yourbroadband modem and the other end to theInternet port on the AmpliFi Router.5. Power on your broadband modem.3. Connect the small end of the Power Adapter to thepower port on the AmpliFi Router.3

Chapter 2: Hardware InstallInstalling the MeshPointsNote: MeshPoint installation is optional and may notbe necessary in smaller homes.AmpliFi User Guide3. The MeshPoint antenna can be adjusted to provideoptimal signal coverage for your location.1. Plug the MeshPoint into a power outlet.Note: If a MeshPoint is powered on and has beenconfigured with the app but does not appear online,try relocating the MeshPoint closer to the Router.2. After approximately one minute, the LEDs will reflectsignal strength, illuminating upward once the MeshPointis connected to the Router.4

Tap Set Up AmpliFi Mesh System.Download the AppTo set up the AmpliFi Router using the AmpliFi app, followthese steps:1. Download and install the AmpliFi app from the App Storeor Google Play .2. Launch the AmpliFi app.2. Tap Skip to bypass the hardware setup instructions(which were performed in the previous section).Note: For iOS users, ensure that Bluetooth is enabledon your phone or mobile device. For Android users,ensure that Wi-Fi is enabled on your phone or mobiledevice.5

Otherwise,tap Skip.Accessing Another AmpliFi RouterThe app accesses one AmpliFi Router at a time. If you wantto set up or access a different Router, perform these steps:1. Tap the Side tab.8. You will see the status on the System tab. Tap on a devicefor configuration options or tabs at the bottom.2. Tap Switch AmpliFi.7

When the Welcome screen appears, you will see threeoptions:AmpliFi User GuideSet Up AmpliFi Mesh System Set Up AmpliFi Standalone MeshPointThis option allows you to set up and configure a newAmpliFi Router. Tap Set Up AmpliFi Mesh System andrepeat steps 3-8 from ”Router Installation” on page 5. I already have a configured AmpliFiSet Up AmpliFi Standalone MeshPoint Set Up AmpliFi Mesh SystemProceed to the section below that corresponds with yourselection.This option allows you to set up a standalone MeshPoint andadd it to an existing Wi-Fi network.1. Select the device that needs to be configured (if morethan one MeshPoint is being installed).8

Enter the password associated with the wireless networkand tap Continue.Chapter 3: Using the App for Installation4. Use a computer to connect to the Wi-Fi network name(SSID) displayed on the screen of the AmpliFi Router.The characters in the network name represent the MACaddress of the Router.1. Open an Internet browser on your computer.2. When the AmpliFi portal appears, click Settings.3. Once connected, open an Internet browser and wait forthe AmpliFi portal to appear.3. Enter the administrator password and click Login.Note: The administrator password is the same asthe wireless password you created in step 4 of theInstallation Without the App section.13

Enter the appropriate information into each of thecorresponding fields. IP Address Enter the Internet IP address of the Router. Network Mask Enter the network or subnet mask of theRouter. Gateway Address Enter the WAN IP address of theservice provider’s gateway router. Primary DNS Enter the IP address of the serviceprovider’s primary DNS server. Secondary DNS Enter the IP address of the serviceprovider’s secondary DNS server.2. Proceed to the section in this chapter that correspondswith your Connection Type.2. Click Save & Continue.DHCPDHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) automaticallyconfigures your AmpliFi Router.1. Total GB, Upload Displays the amount of data uploadedduring the current date range. Total GB, Download Displays the amount of datadownloaded during the current date range.Information Time Displays the current time of day in standard12‑hour format. Using the app, this setting can bechanged to display the time in 24-hour format. Day of the Week Displays the current day of week inabbreviated format: SU, MO, TU, WE, TH, FR, and SA. Date Displays the current date. WAN IP Displays the public or Internet IP address of theWAN interface of the Router. Router IP Displays the private or local IP address of theLAN interface of the Router. IPv6 Displays when IPv6 is enabled in the app. The textwill turn blue when IPv6 is active.Indicates the number of clients connected viaWi-Fi.Indicates the number of clients connected viathe Ethernet ports.17

AmpliFi User GuideChapter 6: SystemThe System screen of the AmpliFi App displays the systemdashboard. It provides an overview of the AmpliFi Wi-Fisystem including network status, number of connectedclients, and active download/upload speeds.Tap the router icon to display or edit the Router’s settings.Chapter 6: SystemTap a MeshPoint to display signal quality, view/edit thedevice name, view MeshPoint details, and locate or rebootthe MeshPoint.Note: Please update your AmpliFi devices as firmwareupdates become available. Keep in mind that Wi‑Fifunctionality will be temporarily unavailable duringthis time, so if an upload or download is in progress,you may want to postpone the update until thatprocess has completed.19

Chapter 6: SystemRouter SettingsSettingsThe Settings screen for the AmpliFi Router offers a variety ofconfiguration options and hardware information.AmpliFi User Guide Reboot Restarts the Router. Factory Reset Resets the Router and all onlineMeshPoints to factory default settings.InternetThe Internet screen for the Router allows you to accessInternet connection settings, including service type: DHCP,Static IP, or PPPoE. Tap to save your changes.General Device Name Displays the name of the AmpliFi Router. Tochange it, tap the name and type in a new name.Time Time Zone Select the appropriate time zone for yourlocation. 24-Hour Time Select this option to display the time in24‑hour format, rather than 12-hour format.Sound Effects Volume The Router emits a sound as you adjust thevolume using the slider control.Actions Locate The Router will emit a sound. The LED in the baseof the Router will also flash several times to help youidentify the device. This is helpful if you have more thanone AmpliFi Router in a single location. Change Password You can change the administrator ordevice password.-- Password Enter the new password.-- Verify Password Enter the new password again.-- Show Password Disabled by default. Select this optionto display the password in plain text.Tap20to save your changes. Network Type Select the type of Internet connection youuse: Static, DHCP, or PPPoE.

Bridge Mode Disabled by default, bridge mode canhelp you grow your network and/or separate multiplenetworks. It allows you to use more than one router on thesame network by placing one router in bridge mode andconnecting it to the client port on another.Here are a few of the most common applications forbridge mode: Connect two routers to share network resources. Use the Router as an additional access point on anexisting network. Use the Router with a fiber service.DHCPThe use of the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)is the default. The Router automatically acquires networksettings from the service provider’s DHCP server. IP Address Displays the IP address assigned by your ISP(Internet Service Provider). Security Select the type of wireless security you use:None, WPA PSK, or WPA2 PSK (recommended). WPA2 PSKis the default.Chapter 6: System Separate Wi-Fi SSID Disabled by default. Select thisoption to create separate wireless networks for the2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radio bands.This may be helpful if you want more control over whichradio band a client device uses. For example, if your devicecan use the 5 GHz radio band and it is within range, thenthe best option is to connect to the 5 GHz network.Tapto save your changes. Hidden SSID Disabled by default. Select this option ifyou don’t want the wireless network name or SSID to bebroadcast. Advanced Select this option to customize the wirelesssettings for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radio bands.GuestBrightness SSID Name The name of the guest wireless network isdisplayed. Tap to change it.LCD Move the slider control left or right to adjust thebrightness of the touchscreen display. Security Select the type of wireless security you use:None, WPA PSK, or WPA2 PSK. None is the default.LED Move the slider control left or right to adjust thebrightness of the LED that illuminates the base of the Router. Hidden SSID Disabled by default.
